Hydrogen Land Transport + Methanol Sea Transport: Chongqing Launches its First Green Logistics Channel to Los Angeles.

Recently, China Chongqing's first international green high-sea intermodal transport demonstration route, "Chongqing-Qinzhou-Los Angeles," officially commenced operation, marking a significant breakthrough in the construction of a cross-border low-carbon logistics system for the Western Land-Sea New Corridor.

The route departs from China Chongqing's dry port, transits through Qinzhou Port in China Guangxi, and finally arrives at the Port of Long Beach in Los Angeles, USA. The 1,150-kilometer land transport segment utilizes hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty trucks, achieving near-zero carbon emissions; the sea transport segment is carried by the "COSCO Shipping Yangpu," China's first methanol dual-fuel container ship, reducing overall carbon emissions by more than 30% compared to traditional routes.

It is understood that this transport will commence on December 13, 2025, and arrive in Los Angeles on January 25, 2026, carrying solid polyvinyl alcohol for textiles. The hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks have a carrying capacity of 49 tons and a range of over 500 kilometers, with four hydrogen refuelings ensuring stable operation throughout the journey, forming a seamless connection between the "hydrogen energy corridor" and "green shipping."

The successful operation of this green high-sea intermodal transport demonstration route is not only a significant milestone in the construction of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, but also provides practical support for China's participation in and leadership in the formulation of international green logistics rules. In the future, all parties involved in the project will continue to deepen cooperation with domestic and international ports, shipping companies, and certification bodies, continuously optimize transportation organization and carbon management mechanisms, accelerate the construction of a green logistics corridor connecting China with Europe, the United States, ASEAN, and other regions, and contribute COSCO Shipping's strength to promoting the green transformation of the global supply chain.
